NEW: Job opening for researcher for human exposure research of future wireless networks

The "WAVES" research group ( is the expertise center of the Department of Information Technology of Ghent University/iMinds in Belgium for electromagnetic exposure research. The number of sources that emit radio frequency (RF) electromagnetic radiation has considerably increased in the past decade. Safe usage of future 5G network systems requires them to be compliant with international guidelines. Next to this, various mobile devices, electric cars, etc. are powered using wireless power transfer (WPT). Knowledge gaps exist for exposure in the frequency range of interest for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. The World Health Association (WHO) Research Agenda identified exposure evaluation of new wireless technologies as a priority.Important research domains in the context of electromagnetic exposure research are:

  • RF electromagnetic exposure evaluation of ultra high density wireless access networks
  • Electromagnetic radiation in future 5G networks (massive MIMO, femto cells, mm-waves, etc.)
  • Electromagnetic exposure due to wireless power transfer systems

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to perform research in the domains above in both national and international European projects. Candidates with a Master degree in Electrical engineering and Physics engineering qualify for this research job. Experience is not necessary but interest in electromagnetics is a definite plus.

What do we offer? We offer a pleasant work climate within a young dynamic team and the possibility of obtaining a PhD. If you are interested in joining our research team, address your application letter and curr. vitae to:
